An app about shared money runs on trust. So:
Read the privacy policy- Incomes are private. Your partner sees the ratio, never the amount.
- No ads. We don’t sell your data or use it for advertising.
- A receipt photo goes to our AI provider only to be read, without location data, and is not used to train models.
- Export all your data at any time, free. A deleted account is gone within 30 days.
- Your data is hosted in the EU.
Questions
Is Tandem free?
Yes. Logging expenses, splitting, the balance, settling up, comments, export and account deletion are free, with no ads and no limits. Ten receipt scans a month are included too. If we ever add paid plans, everything you already use stays free for your household.
Does my partner need an account?
No. Send them the invite link; they join in the app or the browser and can add expenses straight away. Later we suggest they create an account, so nothing is lost if they change phones.
Do we have to connect a bank?
No. Tandem works without any bank connection. You add expenses yourselves or scan the receipt.
How does splitting by income work?
Each of you enters your monthly net income on your own device, or you enter the ratio you agreed on, say 60/40. Your partner sees only the ratio. Changing the ratio never rewrites past expenses.
Can we bring our Splitwise history?
Yes. Export the group from Splitwise as a CSV and import it in the web app. Expenses and settlements keep their dates, and categories are matched where possible.
Which currencies and languages?
Each household uses one currency, which you pick when you set it up. The app is in English and Slovenian.
Who can see our data?
Only the two of you. The Tandem team looks at an account only when it’s needed for support or security. A few service providers process data for us under contract; the privacy policy lists them.
